Have you ever wondered what happens in a vineyard during the summer months? Take a look at these videos and listen to the interviews to hear some of Ontario's talented winemakers and vineyard managers discussing what their grapes are going through leading up to harvest time.
Our final stop on our hunt for veraison found us in Niagara on the Lake at Palatine Hills Estate Winery where we met with Jeff Innes, Winemaker, who showed us where his vineyards are in its progression towards harvest in relation to the vineyards found on the Niagara Bench.
Our first day of video shooting saw us visiting Angel's Gate Winery and Fielding Estate Winery in Beamsville. On day 2, we traveled a little further along the Niagara Peninsula to Vineland Estates Winery where we met with Roman Prydatkewycz, Vineyard Viticulturist at Vineland Estates Winery to discuss what is happening in his vineyards further along the Niagara Bench.
Our second stop of the day was at Fielding Estate Winery where we chatted with Richie Roberts who is the winemaker at Fielding. Listen to Richie as he explains what exactly is going on in a vineyard at this time of the year and where the vineyard will be in the next couple of weeks.
We started out our day at Angel's Gate Winery in the Beamsville Bench walking through their vineyards looking at their Gewurztraminer and Merlot to see where the grapes are at just a week or so before harvest starts. Our journey continues over a couple of days with wineries spread across the Beamsville Bench, Vineland and Niagara-on-the-Lake. Please watch all of the videos to get a real sense of what happens in the vineyards at the beginning of September here in Ontario.
